SEO & AI visibility for coaches and consultants.

In short: your clients rarely search for a coach. They search for their question, and “leadership styles” gets six times as many searches as “leadership coaching”. AI answers draw on articles like these: for “executive coaching cost”, seven of the ten sources in Google’s AI Overview were coaches’ and consultants’ own pages. Claire finds these questions, writes the articles in your voice and publishes them on your website once you approve.

What your customers search for

People search for the question, not for the coach.

Before someone books a coach, they try to make sense of their situation on their own: the new leadership role, the job offer, the restart at 40, the self-doubt. Only later do they ask what a coach does and what it costs. Four groups from career, executive and life coaching, with US search data:

Fresh starts are searched in December.

The levers

Five levers that count for coaches.

Coaching is sold on trust. If people can see how you think and work before the discovery call, you have less convincing to do in it. Articles are the most direct way to show that, on Google and in AI answers.

Coach with a notebook listening closely to a client at a small round table
01

Answer the question, not just describe your offer.

Your service page catches the few people who already look for a coach. Everyone else searches for their problem. An article that answers that question honestly and ends with an invitation to your discovery call reaches them earlier.

Evidence“how to ask for a raise” 12,100, “how to negotiate salary” 9,900, “how much does a career coach cost” 320 searches a month in the US.

02

Put prices and process on the page.

Before they book, people want to know what coaching costs, how long it runs and what happens in a session. Explain it openly and you remove the biggest hurdle before the first call. Pages like that are also what AI answers quote.

EvidenceAI Overview for “executive coaching cost” on October 5, 2026: seven of ten sources were pricing guides from coaches, coaching firms and a consultant.

03

Explain where coaching ends.

Many people aren’t sure whether they need a coach or a therapist. If you explain the difference honestly, including when therapy is the better choice, you build trust with exactly the clients who fit. Right now, the therapy side answers that question.

EvidenceFor “life coach vs therapist” (1,300 searches a month), the top three results on October 5, 2026 came from a psychiatry practice, a counseling practice and a therapist directory.

04

One audience, one occasion.

“Coaching” on its own isn’t what people search for. They search for occasions: the first management role, the restart at 40, the salary talk. Specialize in an occasion and write about it, and you get found for it.

Evidence“career change at 40” 2,900, “career change at 50” 1,600, “career change at 30” 1,000 searches a month. Every life stage is its own search.

05

Get mentioned where AI does its reading.

AI answers also draw on universities, business media and business schools. Guest articles, interviews and mentions outside your website count too. You can request media placements directly in Claire.

Pitfalls and the law

What can go wrong in coaching content.

An article on your website is advertising for your coaching. These are the US rules worth knowing. This isn’t legal advice; if in doubt, ask your lawyer.

Income and results promises

“Six figures in 90 days” or “guaranteed promotion” are claims about results. In 2021, the FTC warned more than 1,100 companies, business coaching among them, that false earnings claims and presenting profits as typical when they aren’t are unlawful. In 2023, online business coaching company Lurn agreed to a proposed court order to pay $2.5 million for refunds and to stop making earnings claims it can’t back up. Describe how you work and what clients can expect, not what they will surely achieve.

Source: FTC: Lurn case, September 2023

Success stories that look typical

Under the FTC’s Endorsement Guides, a client story about a key result will likely be read as what clients generally achieve. If it isn’t typical, you need evidence that it is, or a clear statement of what clients generally achieve. If a client got a free or discounted session for the testimonial, say so (§ 255.5).

Made-up or bought reviews

Since October 2024, an FTC rule bans reviews and testimonials that claim to come from someone who doesn’t exist, including AI-generated ones, or from someone who never worked with you. That covers writing them yourself as well as buying them. Quote real clients only, with their consent and in their own words.

Coaching isn’t therapy

Diagnosing and treating mental health conditions is licensed work. In California, for example, practicing psychology without a license is prohibited, and the law counts assessment, diagnosis, treatment and psychotherapy as part of it; rules differ by state. “signs of burnout” gets 9,900 searches a month. Write about stress, workload and self-doubt at work, but don’t diagnose, don’t promise to treat anxiety or ADHD, and point readers to a doctor or therapist when there are signs of a condition.

Questions

Good to know.

Is SEO worth it for coaches?

If you write about your clients’ questions, yes. “seo for coaches” itself gets about 50 searches a month in the US, but the questions behind coaching get far more: “what is a life coach” 3,600, “career change at 40” 2,900. To be honest, Claire starts at €199 a month. That pays off sooner once your offer is set and one new client is worth more to you than a month’s fee.

How much does SEO for coaches cost?

With Claire, €199 a month on Starter and €299 with the full SEO strategy and AI tracking, cancellable monthly. If you mainly work with clients in your city, also keep your Google Business Profile up to date. It’s free and not part of Claire.

Can I do SEO myself as a coach?

The basics, yes: a clear service page, a Google Business Profile if you work locally, an article on your core topic. Where most coaches get stuck is keeping it up between sessions. Claire takes that over, you only approve.

Can ChatGPT write SEO content for my coaching website?

It can write a draft. What makes an article worth ranking and citing is your perspective, checked facts and a clear answer to a real question. Claire learns your voice from your website, researches sources and checks facts, and you add what only you know as a note. Nothing goes live without your approval.

How long does SEO take for a coach?

Expect months rather than weeks; new websites take longer. That’s why seasonal topics need a head start: searches for “new year resolution ideas” jumped from 590 in November 2025 to 18,100 in December, so goal-setting articles should be live well before then.

Can I write about burnout, anxiety or ADHD as a coach?

About stress, workload, boundaries and self-doubt at work, yes. Diagnosing or treating a mental health condition is licensed work; in California, for example, practicing psychology without a license is prohibited. Good articles draw that line themselves and say when a doctor or therapist is the right place to go. Because you approve every article, you decide what goes live.

How do I get recommended by ChatGPT as a coach?

With articles that make your method and experience concrete, and with mentions outside your website, for example in trade media and interviews. The free AI check shows how often ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity name you today. In Claire you then track it continuously in ChatGPT and Google AI.

Try it on your own website. Or check first whether ChatGPT knows you.

Enter your website, connect your blog, read the first draft. Before that, the free AI check shows how often ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity mention your brand and whom they recommend instead.
